For centuries, the issue on the actual existence of psychic phenomena and their chosen messengers, the psychics, has always been hotly-debated. A lot of people actually believe in these things, with most of them having first-hand experience or knowledge.
Yet, there are also people who remain unbelievers of the so-called special powers that many psychics claim to possess. Despite numerous credible data presented to them, these people remain unperturbed and continue to believe that mysterious things and events can be properly explained when examined scientifically. A so-called psychic skeptic usually asks for proofs or evidences when it comes to events that psychics claim are of paranormal nature. This is one area that many psychics and those who believe in them have actually tried to address, conducting numerous scientific studies on psychic phenomena like those regularly made by several credible organizations like the Society for Psychical Research. However, these investigations were largely rejected or ignored by most members of the scientific community for supposedly insufficient empirical data.
Still, this skepticism is not likely to last especially nowadays when most psychics have access to a number of different ways through which they can demonstrate their God-given gifts, notably the Internet. The volume of empirical data supporting the actual existence of psychic phenomena is likewise continuously growing. The 1994 research done by Charles Honorton and Daryl J. Bems at the University of Edinburgh looked promising and needed only replicable data to further strengthen its findings. Hopefully, more studies of a similar nature will be undertaken soon to finally weed out skeptics among the ranks of psychics. |
